The Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area and 7Up Bottling Company Plc have renovated and upgraded the Sari Primary Health Centre in Iganmu, Lagos.

The refurbished facility, commissioned on Monday, now has a solar inverter system, laboratory and improved waiting area to strengthen healthcare services for residents.

The Executive Chairman of Apapa-Iganmu LCDA, Jimoh Saliu, said the intervention was undertaken because the health centre had deteriorated and could no longer provide the standard of care required by residents.

He said the new solar power system would support medical equipment, vaccine storage and safe deliveries at night.

The facility is expected to provide services including antenatal care, immunisation and family planning, while the laboratory will allow residents to access basic diagnostic services within the community.

Saliu also highlighted other healthcare initiatives by the council, including the Free Olugbani medical outreach programme, which provides consultations, medicines, referrals and financial assistance to residents requiring critical care.

7Up Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Sari El-Khalil, described the project as the company’s first direct partnership with a community to revitalise a primary healthcare facility.

The Ojora of Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom, Oba Abdulfatai Aromire, commended the partnership and said the upgraded centre could help reduce residents’ reliance on more expensive private healthcare facilities.
