“30,000 MILITANTS DO NOT REPRESENT 14.5 MILLION FULANI NIGERIANS” — MIYETTI ALLAH

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has stated that a small number of armed groups should not be used to define the entire Fulani ethnic population in the country.

The group said claims linking widespread insecurity to the Fulani community are misleading, stressing that millions of peaceful citizens should not be profiled based on the actions of a few individuals.

According to MACBAN, the estimated 30,000 individuals involved in criminal activities do not represent the over 14.5 million Fulani Nigerians who are law-abiding and engaged in legitimate livelihoods.

The association urged security agencies and the public to avoid generalisations that could fuel ethnic tension and deepen mistrust among communities in Nigeria.

It also called for a more targeted security approach that focuses on identifying and prosecuting criminals rather than attributing crimes to entire ethnic groups.

MACBAN reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful coexistence and cooperation with government authorities in addressing insecurity and promoting national unity.

The statement comes amid ongoing national debates over insecurity, farmer-herder relations, and ethnic profiling in parts of the country.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
