3-DAY STRIKE HALTS ACTIVITIES AT KADUNA COLLEGE OF NURSING SCIENCES
Academic and non-academic activities at the Kaduna State College of Nursing Sciences were brought to a standstill on Monday as staff began a three-day warning strike.
The strike, which affects the college’s campuses in Kaduna, Kafanchan, and Pambegua, follows allegations that the management has failed to promote eligible staff for three consecutive years (2023, 2024, and 2025).
According to students, lectures and administrative services were completely shut down, leaving many stranded.
In a statement, Dr. Daniel Danboyi, chairman of the workers’ union, accused the college management of deliberately frustrating career progression and ignoring staff welfare despite repeated appeals.
“The workers have resolved to down tools for three days as a warning strike to demand the promotion of qualified staff whose cases have been pending for years,” the statement read.
The union warned that if management fails to act within the three-day window, they may be forced to embark on an indefinite strike, a move that could deepen the crisis and disrupt the academic calendar.
The workers also appealed to Governor Uba Sani to step in and address the matter, stressing that urgent intervention is needed to prevent a prolonged industrial dispute.
Efforts to reach the provost of the college for comments were unsuccessful as calls and text messages went unanswered.
