Veteran Nigerian musician Baba Fryo has weighed in on the troubled marriage of fellow entertainer 2Face Idibia and his ex-wife Annie Idibia, saying the couple didn’t manage their relationship properly.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Baba Fryo suggested that Annie failed to be the kind of supportive partner 2Face needed, which contributed to the collapse of their marriage.

“2Face and his wife didn’t manage themselves well. They are both entertainers. Annie is an actress, 2Face is a musician. When both people are often out together, it’s the woman’s job to watch over the man. If the man is drinking too much, she should know when to calm him. But if the woman also drinks, then who takes who home?” he said.

He explained that men generally desire women who can caution them when they’re slipping into excesses — not women who also indulge in the same habits. According to him, when a man notices this lack of balance, he becomes insecure and starts looking elsewhere.

Interestingly, Baba Fryo did not spare 2Face’s new partner either. The singer recently separated from Annie and introduced Natasha Osawuru, an Edo State lawmaker, as his new lover. However, Baba Fryo remarked that Natasha is “not necessarily better” than Annie.

He added with personal nostalgia, “I’ve known Natasha since she was three years old. I even carried her on my legs back then because her father, Desmond, and I were friends.”

His comments have stirred reactions online, with many agreeing that celebrity marriages often struggle under the spotlight, while others believe both partners should be equally responsible for making a relationship work.

Meanwhile, 2Face and Annie continue to trend across social media, as fans and critics debate where things went wrong and if the iconic singer will eventually settle down again.
