Police Nab 24 Suspects in Minna Crackdown on Criminal Hideouts

The Niger State Police Command has arrested 24 suspected criminals in a major security operation carried out across several parts of Minna.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the coordinated raids were led by Commissioner of Police Adamu Abdullahi Elleman and took place on July 30 between 3:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The operation targeted known criminal hideouts in the Maitumbi axis, covering areas such as Unguwan-Roka, Kwari-Berger, Flamingo, and Tudun Wada.

Among those arrested were Abubakar Nura (23), Auwal Mohammed (20), Suleiman Hassan (21), Alhassan Mohammed (19), and Usman Abubakar Bahaho (18). Police also recovered dangerous items, including a pump-action gun with cartridges, cutlasses, a pair of scissors, and suspected illegal substances.

In a separate sting, two suspects were caught while attempting to escape from a shop believed to be owned by a gang leader. Eleven more suspects were arrested in other incidents connected to ongoing investigations.

Commissioner Elleman assured residents that the police remain fully committed to restoring peace and security across Niger State. He urged the public to stay calm, remain vigilant, and continue supporting law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities.

“We’re working day and night to keep our communities safe. Crime will not be tolerated in any form,” he said.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
