2027: WIKE SAYS HE’LL SUPPORT CANDIDATE WHO PUTS NIGERIA FIRST
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed the kind of candidate he will back in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wike said his support will go to a leader who is committed to Nigeria’s growth and has the country’s interest at heart.
He stressed that his decision will not be based on sentiment or emotion but on fairness, justice, and equity.
“I will support somebody who I know will make Nigeria grow, somebody who has the interest of Nigeria. I don’t believe in sentiment or mere emotion. Because I’m a party man, I won’t want the country to start going backwards again,” Wike said.
The former Rivers State governor also maintained that power should return to the South in 2027, insisting that the rotation principle remains important for equity and stability.
On his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike declared that he has consistently defended the party’s interest but also has a duty to ensure justice is upheld in its internal affairs.
“Nobody serves the interest of the PDP more than me. I’m a Nigerian and can contribute to the progress of this country. My conscience is clear, I stand for justice, fairness, and equity,” he added.
Wike concluded by stressing that he would not support any move that could drag Nigeria backward, promising instead to stand with a candidate who will ensure progress and national unity.
