2027: WIKE ASKS PDP MEMBERS IN FCT TO BACK TINUBU, APC CANDIDATES
2027: Wike Urges Abuja PDP Members to Support Tinubu and APC Candidates
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called on Peoples Democratic Party members in Abuja to support President Bola Tinubu and All Progressives Congress candidates in the 2027 elections.
Wike made the appeal during a political stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, October 21. He encouraged supporters to mobilise for Tinubu’s re-election, as well as Senator Philip Aduda and Dr John Gabaya.
The minister promised to provide the logistics needed for the campaign, expressing confidence that the alliance could attract support across party lines.
Wike also said he had been assigned to coordinate Tinubu’s campaign in both the FCT and Rivers State. He urged eligible voters to take the election seriously, prepare their Permanent Voter Cards and turn out to vote.
His appeal reflects the approach of the Rainbow Coalition, which brings together politicians from different parties to support selected candidates. Wike remains a PDP figure while serving in the APC-led Federal Government and campaigning for Tinubu.
At the gathering, the minister also promised greater inclusion of FCT indigenes in future appointments, saying their representation in the administration mattered.
The move comes amid disagreements within the PDP over support for Tinubu. Several state chapters have rejected the Rainbow Coalition arrangement, insisting that their candidates will contest under the PDP rather than step aside for other parties.
Wike’s latest appeal puts that divide in focus as political leaders seek to turn alliances and local influence into votes ahead of 2027.
