2027: TURAKI-LED PDP BACKS OPPOSITION PUSH TO OUST TINUBU

The Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has joined the G-100 alliance as part of efforts to build a united opposition front ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The faction said its decision was aimed at bringing together opposition political forces to challenge and defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election.

The decision was announced in a statement by the faction's National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong.

According to the party, its participation in the G-100 alliance was driven by concerns over hardship, insecurity and poverty, which it attributed to the APC-led Federal Government.

The G-100 summit, held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, brought together representatives of six opposition political parties to discuss possible cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Turaki-led PDP said its participation demonstrated its commitment to creating a broad opposition platform capable of challenging the APC and offering Nigerians an alternative government.

The faction said the process must be based on transparency, equality, data-driven decision-making and egalitarianism.

According to the PDP, a united opposition formed through such principles could produce credible leadership capable of addressing rising poverty and insecurity in Nigeria.

The party added that joining the G-100 initiative was consistent with its earlier position of working with like-minded political parties and organisations seeking to build a stronger opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
