2027: TINUBU NEEDS SECOND TERM TO TURN REFORMS INTO RESULTS — BANWO MAYOWA

APC chieftain Banwo Mayowa has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, saying another term would allow the administration to build on its economic reforms and infrastructure projects.

Mayowa, a former member of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, made the appeal in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.

He acknowledged that policies introduced since May 2023 had placed households and businesses under considerable pressure. However, he argued that addressing Nigeria’s structural problems required sustained effort and consistent policies.

Mayowa stressed that supporting continuity did not mean accepting every government decision without question. He said weaknesses must be corrected, implementation improved and the benefits of reform made visible in people’s lives.

Citing reported economic growth of 4.43 per cent in the second quarter of 2026, he said stronger figures must translate into jobs, improved purchasing power and lower production costs.

“The purpose of economic reform is not to celebrate statistics; it is to improve people’s lives,” he said.

He called for faster delivery of roads, electricity and transport projects, backed by transparent procurement and responsible spending.

“Nigerians deserve infrastructure that works, not merely announcements of projects,” he added.

Mayowa also identified affordable food, agricultural productivity and support for vulnerable households as urgent priorities.

For young Nigerians, he advocated greater investment in technical education, digital skills, vocational training and small businesses.

The former personal assistant to the late Dr Doyin Okupe maintained that continuity must not become an excuse for poor performance. He urged voters to judge political options by their policies and ability to deliver practical results.
