Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has stated that President Bola Tinubu is not invincible and can be defeated in the 2027 elections.

Amaechi pointed out that Tinubu’s loss in Lagos during the 2023 presidential election demonstrates that no candidate is unbeatable.

He made the remarks on Monday in Abuja during the fifth anniversary lecture of a national newspaper.

Speaking on the theme, “2027: How Can We Make Our Votes Count?”, the former Rivers State governor noted that voter apathy and complacency have allowed electoral malpractice to persist. He urged Nigerians to turn out in large numbers in 2027 to ensure Tinubu is voted out.

Amaechi said:
"The first solution to electoral reform does not lie with the government. The problem starts with the people. When citizens believe results are predetermined, voter apathy sets in, which could allow President Tinubu to retain power. Tell the people the power is in their hands. If Tinubu were truly invincible, how was he defeated in Lagos? It can happen again, but we must first acknowledge that he is not unbeatable. The real challenge lies with the opposition."

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
