The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has disclosed that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will soon announce the political party under which he intends to contest the 2027 general elections.

Tanko made this known during an interview on Prime Time, a programme aired on Arise Television. He stressed that the decision would be taken personally by Obi and revealed at a time of his choosing.

According to him, many Nigerians and supporters across the world are eagerly awaiting Obi’s decision, a development he described as a reflection of the former Anambra State governor’s growing political relevance and appeal.

Tanko noted that Obi has consistently maintained close engagement with a political coalition, adding that the coalition has since evolved into a registered political party. He said Obi has been actively involved in the process and has made meaningful contributions.

“He is a team player and believes strongly in collective action,” Tanko said, expressing confidence that Obi’s eventual announcement would be widely welcomed.

He further stated that Obi is committed to the idea of liberating Nigeria from poor leadership and hardship, stressing that his political decisions are guided by the desire to improve the lives of Nigerians.

Tanko concluded by assuring supporters that Obi’s pronouncement on his 2027 political platform would be made very soon.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
