2027: ONDO SENATOR URGES AGGRIEVED APC MEMBERS TO EMBRACE RECONCILIATION, UNITY
Senator representing Ondo Central, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice, has called on aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State to sheathe their swords and embrace reconciliation and unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The senator made the appeal on Friday during a meeting with party leaders and stakeholders in Akure. He emphasised that internal wrangling within the APC could weaken the party’s chances in future elections and urged members to prioritise the collective interest of the party over personal ambitions.
“As we prepare for 2027, we must close ranks and work together. No individual is bigger than the party. Reconciliation and unity are essential if we want to retain power and deliver more dividends of democracy to our people,” Boroffice said.
The veteran lawmaker acknowledged that differences of opinion are natural in politics but stressed the need for dialogue and mutual respect to resolve grievances. He assured aggrieved members that their concerns would be addressed through appropriate party mechanisms.
The APC in Ondo State has been grappling with internal divisions since the last governorship election, with some members expressing dissatisfaction over candidate selection and party administration. Boroffice’s appeal is seen as a strategic move to consolidate the party ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Party chieftains at the meeting welcomed the senator’s intervention, with many pledging to work towards genuine reconciliation. The state APC Chairman, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, said the party leadership is committed to fostering unity and ensuring that all genuine members are carried along.
Political observers believe that successful reconciliation within the APC could strengthen the party’s position in Ondo State, especially as the opposition PDP continues to reposition itself.
As the countdown to 2027 begins, stakeholders expect more efforts from party leaders to heal rifts and present a united front to the electorate. Senator Boroffice’s call for unity is being viewed as a timely reminder of the importance of cohesion in achieving electoral success.
