2027: NDC SLAMS TINUBU, APC OVER ₦1BN WORTH OF PRADO SUVS FOR YOUTH LEADERS
The Nigeria Democratic Congress has criticised the APC over the distribution of new Toyota Prado SUVs to selected youth leaders for election mobilisation.
The criticism followed a video shared by APC National Youth Leader Dayo Israel announcing the vehicles.
Reacting on X, the NDC said it counted seven 2026 Toyota Prado SUVs in the footage. Using an estimated price of ₦145 million each, the opposition party put their combined value at ₦1.015 billion.
That figure is the NDC’s estimate, rather than a disclosed purchase price.
The party accused the APC and President Bola Tinubu’s administration of prioritising expensive benefits for politicians while Nigerians faced rising living costs.
It argued that the vehicle distribution contrasted with calls for citizens to endure the hardship associated with economic reforms.
The NDC also alleged that taxpayers’ money funded the SUVs. However, the material provided did not establish the source of funding or include procurement records supporting that allegation.
No response from Israel, the APC or the Presidency to the NDC’s criticism was included in the report.
The dispute adds to political debate over campaign spending and accountability ahead of the 2027 general election.
