Professor Jerry Gana, former Minister of Information and National Orientation, has declared that ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will contest in the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and is set to reclaim the presidency. Gana made the remarks while speaking with journalists in Minna, Niger State, shortly after the PDP’s Niger State Congress. He said Nigerians have already experienced leadership under two presidents since Jonathan and are now yearning for his return. Vanguard News+1

“In 2015, former President Goodluck Jonathan said his ambition was not worth the blood of Nigerians. After him, another President ruled for eight years, and now another has ruled for two years. Nigerians have seen the difference, and the difference is very clear. Nigerians are now asking us to bring back our friend, former President Goodluck Jonathan.” Vanguard News+1

He added with confidence:

“I can confirm that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will contest the presidential election in 2027 as PDP candidate, and we should be prepared to vote for him to return as President again.” Daily Post+1

Gana also spoke on the internal condition of the PDP, describing the party as “truly democratic and grassroots-oriented,” and dismissed claims of crisis within its ranks. He said the party is ready for the 2027 campaign.
