2027: JONATHAN NOT INTERESTED, WILL NOT CHALLENGE PRESIDENT TINUBU

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has reportedly indicated that he is not interested in contesting the 2027 presidential election and will not be challenging President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in Nigeria.

According to political sources, Jonathan is focused on his ongoing international engagements and peace diplomacy roles across Africa, rather than returning to partisan politics.

The clarification comes amid growing speculation within political circles and social media discussions suggesting a possible comeback by the former president.

However, associates of Jonathan have dismissed such claims, stressing that he has no plans to enter the 2027 presidential race or engage in political competition against the incumbent administration.

President Goodluck Jonathan previously served as Nigeria’s head of state from 2010 to 2015, after assuming office following the death of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and later losing the 2015 election.

Political analysts say the denial may help reduce early election tension and speculation as parties begin informal positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development adds clarity to ongoing debates about possible contenders in Nigeria’s next presidential race.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
