2027: CLERIC URGES POLITICIANS TO STOP MAKING EMPTY PROMISES

A cleric has urged politicians preparing for the 2027 general elections to avoid making promises they cannot fulfil if elected.

The cleric said political leaders should be honest with Nigerians about what they can realistically achieve rather than making unrealistic pledges to secure votes.

He made the call while speaking on the need for greater accountability and responsible leadership ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, politicians seeking public office should present clear and achievable programmes that address the challenges facing citizens.

He also urged voters to examine the records, policies and credibility of candidates rather than being influenced solely by campaign promises.

The cleric said elected officials have a responsibility to deliver on commitments made to the electorate and should be held accountable when they fail to do so.

He called on political parties and candidates to make the welfare of Nigerians the centre of their campaigns and avoid using sensitive issues to divide the electorate.

The cleric also appealed to religious and community leaders to encourage peaceful political participation and responsible voting.

His comments come as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections continue to intensify, with politicians and interest groups already mobilising support across the country.

He urged Nigerians to demand transparency from candidates and support leaders who demonstrate competence, integrity and a genuine commitment to public service.
