2027: ATIKU MEETS ADP CHAIR AMID OBI–KWANKWASO SPECULATION
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has held a meeting with the National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Yabagi Yusuf Sani, alongside other top party officials.
The closed-door meeting reportedly took place on Saturday at Atiku’s residence in Abuja.
The engagement comes amid growing speculation about possible alliances among opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Recent reports have suggested that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and ex-Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso may emerge on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Such a development could complicate Atiku’s political ambitions, as he is also believed to be interested in contesting the presidential race on the ADC ticket.
However, ADP National Chairman Yabagi Yusuf Sani dismissed suggestions that the meeting was linked to any planned merger or political realignment. He clarified that the discussion was neither about merging parties nor about recruiting Atiku or any individual into the ADP.
