With the CAF qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup nearing their conclusion, the race for Africa’s nine automatic tickets is heating up.

So far, only Morocco and Tunisia have officially booked their spots at next year’s tournament, confirming their dominance in their respective groups. The remaining seven places will be decided in the final round of matches scheduled within the next two weeks.

The qualifying campaign, which kicked off in November 2023, has showcased some thrilling football across the continent. Among the teams in strong contention to qualify are Egypt (Group A, 20 points), Senegal (Group B, 18 points), Benin Republic (Group C, 14 points), Cape Verde (Group D, 19 points), Côte d’Ivoire (Group F, 20 points), Algeria (Group G, 19 points), and Ghana (Group I, 19 points).

Nine African nations will earn automatic qualification for the 2026 World Cup, while one additional team will compete in the intercontinental playoff for a potential tenth spot.

Fans across Africa are eagerly waiting to see which teams will join Morocco and Tunisia on the world stage next year.
