2026 WORLD CUP: GHANA JOINS EGYPT, TUNISIA, MOROCCO, ALGERIA AS AFRICA’S FIVE REPRESENTATIVES
Five African nations have now booked their places at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Ghana becoming the latest to secure qualification.
The Black Stars sealed their spot after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Comoros in Accra on Tuesday night.
Tottenham Hotspur winger, Mohammed Kudus, scored the only goal of the match in the second half, ensuring Ghana topped Group I ahead of Madagascar and Mali.
This qualification marks Ghana’s fifth appearance at football’s biggest stage, following previous outings in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022.
The West African nation joins Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and Algeria, who had earlier confirmed their places at the expanded 2026 edition to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Africa will have nine slots in total for the 2026 tournament, giving other nations still in contention a chance to join the five already-qualified teams as the qualifying campaign continues.
