2026 WORLD CUP: GHANA EDGE CLOSER TO QUALIFICATION AFTER 5–0 WIN OVER CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC
Ghana moved a step closer to securing a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a dominant 5–0 victory over the Central African Republic (CAR) on Wednesday evening.
The Black Stars took control early in the game when Mohammed Salisu headed home Mohammed Kudus’ corner in the 20th minute. After the break, Thomas Partey doubled Ghana’s advantage with a composed finish.
The momentum continued as Alexander Djiku added a third, before Jordan Ayew and Kamaldeen Sulemana completed the rout with late goals to seal an emphatic win.
The result leaves Otto Addo’s men at the top of Group I, three points ahead of Madagascar, with a significantly superior goal difference. With just one match left to play, a draw in their final game will be enough to confirm Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
The four-time African champions now look poised to make their fifth appearance at football’s biggest stage.
