2026 WCQ PLAYOFFS: CHELLE PRAISES FOUR SUPER EAGLES STARS AFTER GABON WIN
Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has commended four key players after Nigeria’s 4-1 victory over Gabon in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff on Thursday.
Chelle singled out defenders Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Benjamin Fredrick, and Zaidu Sanusi, noting that they delivered a solid performance in Rabat, Morocco.
Nigeria secured the win with goals from Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, and a brace from Victor Osimhen.
“We conceded late, but we still had a great chance to wrap up the game at the end,” Chelle said during his post-match interview. “It was also a new defensive setup. Bright, Benjamin, Calvin, and Zaidu did well. The backline was strong, though there’s always room to improve.”
The Super Eagles will now take on DR Congo in the playoff final on Sunday.
