Super Eagles head coach, Éric Chelle, has praised Victor Osimhen, describing him as “the best striker in the world” following his outstanding performance in Nigeria’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Benin Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Osimhen, who currently plays for Galatasaray, produced a dazzling display on Tuesday, netting a hat-trick to inspire Nigeria’s qualification for the World Cup playoffs.

The 25-year-old striker scored twice in the first half and completed his treble shortly after the restart, sealing a dominant win for the Super Eagles.

Speaking after the match, Coach Chelle commended the team’s performance but singled out Osimhen for special praise.

“I am very happy for my players, especially the best striker in the world, Victor (Osimhen),” Chelle said after the match.

He, however, maintained that the journey is far from over as Nigeria prepares for its next crucial qualifier.

“Now we go to Morocco, it’s going to be very difficult,” he added.

With his latest heroics, Osimhen continues to solidify his reputation as one of the most lethal forwards in world football, reaffirming his importance to the Super Eagles’ World Cup ambitions.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
