Nigeria’s Flying Eagles head coach, Aliyu Zubairu, has expressed confidence ahead of their crucial clash with Argentina at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The seven-time African champions will square off against the South Americans in a Round of 16 encounter on Wednesday in Santiago. Argentina have been in top form, winning all three of their group-stage matches, while Nigeria booked their place in the knockout rounds as one of the best third-placed teams.

Despite facing a strong opponent, Zubairu insists his team is not intimidated and will approach the game with focus and determination.

“Every game is a new challenge, and we’ll prepare with the same mentality — focus, discipline, and teamwork,” Zubairu said after Nigeria’s qualification. “We respect Argentina, but it’s a challenge that must be overcome.”

Interestingly, the Flying Eagles have a positive history against the South Americans — they knocked out Argentina at the same stage in the last edition of the tournament, and fans will be hoping for a repeat performance this time around.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
