The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 200-level student of Abia State University, Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, following a fatal road accident along the Okigwe/Afikpo Expressway in Uturu.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, involved two motorcycles that reportedly collided head-on, throwing passengers onto the road, where the victim was subsequently run over by an oncoming Mack truck.

Confirming the incident on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chioma Chinaka, said operatives have already arrested one suspect in connection with the crash.

She explained that officers of the Motor Traffic Department were deployed to the scene immediately after the incident was reported, while injured victims were taken to the hospital and are responding to treatment.

According to her, the remains of the deceased have been released to her family after confirmation of death by a medical doctor.

Chinaka added that the motorcycles and the Mack truck involved in the accident have been recovered and taken into police custody for investigation.

She further disclosed that one suspect is currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend two others linked to the incident.
