Two people have lost their lives while one person was injured in a tragic accident that occurred along the Ota-Idiroko Expressway in Ogun State.

The incident happened on Friday afternoon around 1:00 p.m. at the Chelsea area of the expressway, inbound Atan. According to Mr. Adekunle Ajibade, South-West Commander of the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), the crash involved a commercial motorcycle and a Howo truck.

Ajibade explained that the motorcycle, with registration number KTU 643 QQ, was speeding when the rider lost control and collided with the truck. Two passengers on the bike died instantly, while the rider sustained serious injuries.

“The injured victim is receiving treatment at Ota General Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at Ifo General Hospital morgue,” Ajibade said.

The accident caused a brief disruption on the busy road, but the truck was later towed away to ease traffic.

Ajibade used the opportunity to advise motorcyclists and drivers to avoid reckless speeding and exercise more caution, especially on highways.

“Most accidents like this are avoidable. Speeding kills. Let’s value our lives and those of our passengers,” he added.

The accident has once again raised concerns about road safety and enforcement in high-traffic zones like Ota-Idiroko.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
